The Hodges Education Foundation ("Foundation") is dedicated to benefit Pamlico County high school-aged youth by meeting the
mission stated above. The Foundation funds and directs the LIFT (Leadership Information for Tomorrow), EmPower Now and ZAP programs. These programs provide career, business and personal development to our Pamlico County youth.
Briefly, the EmPower Now program focuses on career development through the use of personal and career-assessment tests, counseling, mentoring, shadowing and college investigation. The goal is to assist the student in determining their initial career interest or answering the question "What am I going to do?" LIFT introduces the skills needed to compete for a scholarship or employment such as interviewing, resumé writing, dress, etiquette, leadership and teamwork. LIFT builds confidence and poise so the student can compete more effectively. In addition, students volunteer for various community service activities and learn about personal finance. The goal is for the student to become an active, successful and productive citizen. ZAP provides many of the LIFT and EmPower Now courses to the high school population during EOC (end of course) testing each semester.
The LIFT, EmPower Now and ZAP programs are available to all Pamlico County high school-aged youth (public, private, charter and home-schooled). It is not a club but a nine-month-long training program available for motivated and dedicated students. If you are interested or have a student who should participate, contact Mrs. Kim Peed, Program Director, at 252-514-3435.
The Foundation is an IRS approved 501(c)3 public charity, and all donations are fully tax deductible. We welcome any donation to continue this valuable program to our Pamlico County youth. If you have any questions, contact Richard Hodges at 252-229-7035 or richard@pamlicoleaders.org.
The success of the program is dependent on our volunteers for instructors, chaperons, mentors and other needs. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Mrs. Peed or Richard Hodges.
