(EDIT)   Student Information

There are many recourses that can provide valuable information about your personality type, careers, finance, colleges, scholarships and much more.  Visit this page frequently as we will post new information during the year.

Personality Assessment and Career Path:

The Myers Briggs is a great way to find out about your personality type.  Understanding your personality type will assist you in identifying career paths that are closely tied to your personality, meaning you could find a job you enjoyed.  The test is free and takes just 5 minutes.  Answer all the questions the click the score button.  If you have a printer, print the results and if not, write down the results.  The next step is to find out what careers fit your profile.  On the score page, click Identify Your Career With The Jung Indicator and it will then list many careers/jobs that may fit your personality.  Again, print or write down the results.

It is fun to learn about your personality type and then compare with your peers.  Enjoy taking the test and sharing the results.

Myers Briggs Personality Assessment    Then click Do It under Jung Typology Test, click Score It after completing the questions, print or write the results, then click Identify Your Career With The Jung Indicator, print or write the results.

Personal Finance

Personal finance is a very important and LIFT offers several personal finance courses designed to significantly improve the student's ability to be financially successful.  The courses include how to purchase a car correctly, budget, how much the first job will cost, and how to become financially secure.  It is important that the student complete the Pre-Course Assignment to gain the greatest benefit from the courses (assignment below).  In addition, all of the excel spreadsheets used for planning will be posted to this site so the student can access anytime when needed (before and after the course), parents are welcome to join in the fun as well.  These courses will be offered in January 2012 and are currently listed as available courses online at the student and parent portals.  Students can enroll in the available courses at any time.

Pre-Assignment:  When dealing with money, it is important to know how much money one has to work with and how much one's expenses will be.  It's not rocket science but a practical application to what is available.  The Pre-Assignment is to determine potential income and expenses before the course.  Every one has an idea of one or more careers/jobs desired after high school or college.  Go to
www.salary.com , type in your desired job and work location, skip any advertisements (may cost you so avoid), and view the projected salary.  Write down the numbers shown at different percentages.  Most new employees will be at the lower end of the scale as they have no experience so the average salary is not the expected salary.  Write all the numbers and percentages down and bring to the course.  Now for the expenses.  The largest expense will be housing.  Go to www.apartmentfinder.com, enter where you desire to work and look for an apartment that will meet your needs, in fact, write down several potentials.  If possible, find out if a deposit is required, if the rent includes utilities (water, electricity, garbage, internet, tv), or any other possible monthly expense.  Check back in early December as the files used to analyize the information will be available for download and use.  Have a go of it and we will discuss during the course.  Good luck
